Surf Lifesaving NSW has announced today that all patrols by volunteer surf lifesavers on NSW beaches are cancelled for the remainder of the 2019/20 season.
This unprecedented decision has been made to protect the safety and welfare of volunteer surf lifesavers from potential infection by the COVID-19 virus and to support the Government’s position in discouraging large gatherings of people on beaches across NSW.
Our club will still have our Callout team of IRB drivers and crew on standby and all equipment will be rescue ready. Jetskis will continue with on-water surveillance.
I thank you for the wonderful community service you have given over this season. I am not sure what will become of our presentation night at present but the club will ensure that recognition of the outstanding achievements made by our club members is still made in some form.
Please stay safe and well. Also be aware that if you become concerned for your own or another member’s wellbeing surf lifesaving has a network of support services available to assist members in need. We are just a call away.
Yours in lifesaving.
